Privacy notice

What CliquePick collects, why, who sees it and what you can do about it. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

Draft of 27 September 2026

DRAFTThis is a working draft for review. It is not legal advice and it is not final: it will be reviewed and completed before CliquePick launches. Highlighted text marks details still to be confirmed.

Who we are

CliquePick is published and run by Fluidlabs [legal suffix to be confirmed], company number [to be confirmed], registered office [address to be confirmed] (“Fluidlabs”, “we”, “us”). Fluidlabs is the controller of the personal data described in this notice, which means we decide why and how it is used. Our ICO registration number is [to be confirmed].

This notice covers this website (cliquepick.app), the launch waitlist, and the CliquePick app for iPhone and, later, Android, which Fluidlabs publishes on the App Store and Google Play. The app has not launched yet, so the app sections describe what it is being built to collect. We will update this notice before launch if anything changes.

Questions or requests: privacy@cliquepick.app.

This website and the waitlist

No cookies, no analytics, no ad trackers. This website does not set cookies and does not run analytics or advertising scripts. Fonts are served from our own domain, so visiting a page does not tell any font provider about you.

If you join the waitlist

  • Email address - so we can tell you when CliquePick opens near you.
  • City or neighbourhood - so we know where people are waiting and can email you when your area opens.
  • Interests you tick (optional) and whether you organise things (optional) - so we can seed the right Cliques first.

We store these with our email provider (see who we share it with). We only email you about CliquePick launching near you (and, if you told us you organise things, about getting your Clique set up), and every email has an unsubscribe link.

Technical data

Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the service. Hosting logs are kept for [retention period to be confirmed with the hosting provider].

To stop the waitlist form being flooded, we count sign-up attempts from each IP address over 10 minutes at a time. The address and its count are kept only in the memory of the server that handled your request, never in our logs and never with your sign-up. Once the 10 minutes are up, they are deleted the next time anyone sends the form to that server, or when that server shuts down, whichever comes first.

If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you and deal with any follow-up.

What the app will collect

WhatWhySeen by other members?
Account: your name, email address and the identifier Sign in with Apple or Google gives us. There are no passwords.To create and secure your account and contact you about it.Your name, yes. Your email, never.
Date of birthYou must be 18 or over to use CliquePick. We check your date of birth when you set up.Your date of birth, never. [whether profiles show an age - to be decided]
Approximate locationTo show Cliques and events near you.Never as a place. Others see only a rough distance, such as “under 2 km”. More below.
Interests and CliquesTo suggest Cliques and to work out what you have in common with people.Yes, apart from sensitive interests, which are hidden unless you choose to show them.
What you post: profile details and photo, posts, comments, photos, events and messages.To run the service you signed up for.Posts and events: members of that Clique. Messages: the people in the conversation.
Safety records: reports you make or receive, blocks and moderation decisions.To keep people safe and enforce our rules.No. People you block are not told.
Device and diagnostics: push notification token, app version, crash reports.To send the notifications you allow and to fix bugs.No.

Sensitive interests

Some interests and Cliques can reveal things like your religion, health, sexuality or politics. These are hidden on your profile by default, we ask for your explicit consent when you pick one, and they only count towards what you have in common with someone if you both choose to show them.

Photos

Location data inside photos (EXIF) is removed on your phone and again on our servers before anyone else can see the photo. Photos are checked before they are published.

Your location

  • The app only asks for location while you are using it, never in the background.
  • Your phone rounds your position to about a kilometre before it is sent to us. We store only the wider area it falls in, never your exact position.
  • Other members never see a pin for you. They see a distance band, such as “under 2 km” or “2 to 5 km”.
  • You can decline location access and choose a city instead. Then no distance is shown to or about you.
  • Public events show their venue. Request-to-join events show only the neighbourhood until the organiser accepts you.

Similarity

CliquePick shows how much you have in common with other members, with the reasons behind it. It is worked out from shared interests, shared Cliques and events you have both been to. It never uses distance or location, so it cannot reveal where anyone lives. It has no legal or similarly significant effect on you, and you can always see why a score is what it is.

Why we use it (lawful bases)

  • Contract: to provide the app you signed up for (your account, Cliques, events, messages, similarity).
  • Consent: approximate location (through your phone's permission prompt), sensitive interests (explicit consent), push notifications, and waitlist emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: keeping CliquePick safe and secure, preventing spam and abuse, and fixing and improving the service.
  • Legal obligation: for example, UK law requires us to report child sexual exploitation and abuse to the National Crime Agency and to keep related records.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use advertising trackers. We share data only with:

  • Other members, as described in the table above.
  • Service providers who process data for us under contract. The providers we plan to use are listed below. [list to be confirmed before launch]
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or where someone's safety is at serious risk.

International transfers

We keep the app's core data in the UK. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. [transfer mechanism per provider to be confirmed]

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist: until CliquePick opens in your area and we have invited you, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first, and no longer than [maximum period to be confirmed].
  • Your account: for as long as you keep it.
  • When you delete your account: your profile disappears straight away. Your data and content are deleted, normally within minutes and always within 30 days.
  • Safety exceptions: content that is the subject of an open report is kept for up to 90 days as evidence. Where we have reported child sexual exploitation or abuse, the law requires us to keep the report's content and data for one year and its reference numbers for five years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your data (the app will also offer an export);
  • correct it;
  • delete it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • move it to another service.

Email privacy@cliquepick.app. We reply within one month. You can delete your account yourself in the app; see Support. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

CliquePick is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data.

Security

We encrypt data in transit, limit who on our team can access personal data, and require two-factor sign-in for our moderation tools. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong we will tell you and the ICO where the law requires it.

Changes and contact

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change applies. Privacy questions: privacy@cliquepick.app. Anything else: support@cliquepick.app.
